Game 11: Baylor 66 South Carolina 64

12 Nov

Neither team had a lead bigger than five points and Michael Carrera was fouled just after the final buzzer allowing Baylor to escape with a 66-64 win over South Carolina.  Brady Heslip and Isaiah Austin combined for 32 points and the Bears sloppy play at times let a young South Carolina team hang around.  Baylor committed 15 turnovers and shot an atrocious 22-41 from the free throw line while only shooting 38% from the field.  The Gamecocks gave Baylor everything and played well enough to walk out of Waco with a win, but coach Frank Martin has to be pleased with the effort of his young team.  Freshman Sindarius Thornwell led the team with 20 points in his collegiate debut and Tyrone Johnson added eight points, eight assists, four rebounds and two steals for a South Carolina team that turned the ball over just eight times on the road.
