Game Four: Wichita State 66 Western Kentucky 49

12 Nov

Wichita State had four guys score in double figures led by Fred VanVleet and his 17 points as the Shockers pulled away from a pesky Western Kentucky team in the second half to score a 66-49 win as they unveiled their Final Four banner at Charles Koch Arena.  Cleanthony Early added 11 points and nine rebounds and Kadeem Coleby and Tekele Cotton added 13 and 10 points respectively in the win.    The Hilltoppers shot just 28.6% from the field, including just 7-30 from three-point land and committed 16 turnovers in the loss.  T.J. Price and Aleksei Rostov both led Western Kentucky with 12 points but 2nd leading scorer George Fant was frustrated all night shooting just 1-7 with seven rebounds and four turnovers, but Fant wasn’t alone in his struggles, besides Price and Rostov only two Hilltoppers made more than one field goal on the night (Payton Hulsey and Kevin Kaspar each made two).
