Game Three: BYU 112 Stanford 103

12 Nov

If you like offense there was plenty of it in Palo Alto, California as BYU outdueled the home standing Stanford Cardinal 112-103.  Last season Tyler Haws was one of the country’s top scorers and he led Brigham Young with 31 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.  A big addition to the Cougars this year is the return of Kyle Collinsworth from a Mormon mission.  The 6-6 guard is a stat sheet filler and he did just that with 14 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block.  Senior guard Matt Carlino led four other BYU players in double figures with 26 points.  Stanford matched the Cougars shot for shot with Chaisson Randle leading the way with a career-high 33 points.  Dwight Powell added 28 points and seven rebounds, however the rest of the team shot just 33% and the team committed 16 turnovers in defeat.
